Romie Faye Davis

Romie Faye Davis, 76, of Cross City, Florida passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born November 14, 1949, in Old Town, Florida, to R.L. and Laura Mae Davis. Romie was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and cherished friend whose strength touched all who knew her. She was a hard worker whose resilience carried her through life’s ups and downs. No matter the challenge, she faced it head-on with determination and grace. Her strength inspired everyone around her. Her legacy is one of resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion. She had a gift for humor and was always ready with a joke. Her laughter was contagious, and her quick wit kept family gatherings lively. Romie also had a little spice to her personality — she spoke her mind, stood her ground, and kept everyone on their toes — all part of the charm that made her so unforgettable. She found deep happiness in cooking and the outdoors. Whether she was standing in the kitchen, woodworking, casting a line while fishing, or spending hours playing games (usually cards) and sharing laughter with loved ones, Romie treasured life’s simple pleasures. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into laughter and lasting memories. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cannon, parents, R.L. and Laura Mae Davis, brothers, Benny Davis, JR Davis, Jessie Davis and sister, Vertie Mae Palmer, all of Dixie County, Florida. She is survived by her brothers, Ed Davis, Lewis (Lisa) Davis both of Dixie County, Florida and sister, Wanda (John) Whetsell of Cumming, Georgia, daughters, Teresa (Buddy) Fowler, Laura (Robbie) Langford and Dorine (Paul) Dykes, all of Dixie County, Florida, stepchildren, Donna Jean Forehand, Annie Mae Brannin, Freeman Cannon and Bill Lee, all of Dixie County, Florida, nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her example and who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. A service to celebrate Romie’s life will be held at Old McCrabb Cemetery 598 NE 783rd Street, Old Town, Florida 32680 on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to support Romie’s great-granddaughter, Laci Osteen and her cause, which was very meaningful to her.
