Nathan Whitfield

Nathan Whitfield, 67, of Cross City, Florida, passed away on April 21, 2026. Born on April 19, 1959, Nathan lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, and quiet strength. He was known for his stubborn nature - a trait that reflected his determination, independence, and refusal to give up, even when faced with life’s challenges. Nathan built a career as an Outside Plant (OSP) Telecommunications Engineer, working throughout the Country to develop and maintain communication networks for multiple telephone companies. His work also supported projects with the Department of Defense, where he contributed to telecommunications systems for military bases. He took pride in his work, dedicating years to a field that required both skill and perseverance. He was a homebody at heart, someone who found comfort in familiar surroundings and simple routines. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, a pastime that reflected his connection to the outdoors and the quiet stillness it offered. In recent years, Nathan faced significant health challenges following a stroke that led to cognitive and physical decline. For his family, this marked the beginning of a long and difficult goodbye. In many ways, the loss was felt long before his passing, making this moment one of both grief and quiet reflection. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Sonny” Whitfield and Clara Whitfield; and his siblings, Charles Loveless, Leslie Loveless, and Sharon Scoville. Nathan is survived by his brother, William “Billy” (Ali) Whitfield; his children, Deleah Whitfield and Judson (Rachel) Whitfield; his grandchildren, Taylor (Jacquez) Warren, Makia Hobbs, Mehalina Hobbs, Nathan Jeffrey Whitfield, and Patsy Whitfield; and his great-grandchildren, Robin Warren and Reese Warren. Through them, his life and legacy continue. A celebration of life will be held at his daughter Deleah’s home in Alachua, Florida on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM. All who knew him and wish to attend are welcome. Due to the nature of his illness and swift decline final arrangements were not prearranged. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to assist with final arrangements. Any remaining funds will be donated to a non-profit in Nathan’s memory.
