Leonard Perry Ott, 70, of Chiefland went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, August 3, 2026, peacefully in his sleep. He was born April 18, 1956, to the late Gerald and Laurita (Mercer) Ott in Pompano Beach, FL. On February 9, 2005, Perry was united in marriage to Linda Nell Cook (Trest) in Clark County, Nevada. Perry was a loving husband, nurturing father, and a doting grandfather who loved to spoil his grandchildren. Perry was a member of the Rafter Cross Cowboy Church, Williston, Florida. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and even conquered The Dragon up in North Carolina/Tennessee. Perry was also a member of the Blue Knights MC which combined two of his favorite things: motorcycles and law enforcement. One place you could always find him was in one of his favorite places, the woods, as he was an avid hunter and thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching his westerns. Another favorite spot for Perry was in his patrol car. He has always been a hardworking man with occupations ranging from a mechanic to a Sheriff’s deputy. Perry had an impressive career as a Levy County Sheriff’s Deputy serving for twenty-eight years, retiring as Lieutenant. Alongside being a deputy, he was also part of the Levy County Search and Rescue Dive Team and Perry also served as a US Marshal for more than five years. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda, of Chiefland; two sons, Walter (Jessica Woeller) Cook of Williston and Michael (Tenley Reimer) Cook of Chiefland; one brother, Rick Musgrove of Jupiter; niece, Connie Davis of Salt Creek; grandchildren, Brandon Denham, Britney (Denham) Amann, Jennifer Cook, Amanda Cook, Katelynn Cook, and McKenley Cook. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Rafter Cross Cowboy Church, Williston. Pastor Billy Keith will officiate. Entombment will be in Hardeetown Cemetery, Chiefland. Viewing will be prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Rafter Cross Cowboy Church for friends and family. Arrangements have been placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chiefland Chapel, with locations in Cross City 352-498-5400 and Chiefland 352-493-0050.
