JoAnn Richardson Thomas

JoAnn Richardson Thomas, 85, lifetime resident of High Springs, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Magnolia Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a graduate of High Springs High School Class of 1955. JoAnn was also a dedicated member of First Baptist Church High Springs, where she sang in the Young at Heart Choir and served faithfully in the nursery with the bed babies. JoAnn worked at the High Springs Bank as a teller for many years and then worked for 18 years at High Springs Elementary as a Media Aide until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed going to church, watching Gator sports on television, and listening to music. However, her primary interest was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Meme loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie McComb Mathews (Lance), of Ft. White, Glenna Thomas Petty of High Springs, and a stepson, Jimmy Thomas of High Springs; 5 granddaughters, Megan Davis (Jeff), Molly Ashraf (Wally), Mallory Mullins (Josh) all of Alachua, Rachel Petty and Emma Petty of High Springs; 8 great grandchildren, Cambrie Davis, Brynley, Brooklynn and Bayler Ashraf, Kenidy, Grant, Tessa and Eli Mullins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Foster C. Richardson and Madie Richardson McGehee; Stepfather, Percy McGehee; her first husband, Auburn Dale McComb, her second husband, Glenn “Turk” Thomas, and her son in law, Donny Petty. Meme battled numerous illnesses over the last several years. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 9, 2022, at First Baptist Church of High Springs, 20112 N US HWY 441, with Rev. Jacob Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at High Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
