Eddie Parrott Sr

Edward Albert Parrott Sr., lovingly known as “Birdman” to many, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 12, 1935, in Hines, Florida, Eddie lived a full life devoted to faith, family, and the simple joys of the outdoors. Eddie was the beloved husband of Eloise S. Parrott, his wife of 68 years. Together, they shared a life built on love, strength, and unshakable faith in God. To his family, Eddie was so much more than a husband and father—he was the best of both. His devotion, kindness, and constant presence were the foundation of their home. He led with quiet strength, unconditional love, and a deep sense of responsibility that left a lasting mark on generations. He is survived by his wife Eloise S. Parrott; his son, Edward A. Parrott Jr. (Tammy); granddaughter Kassi Knopp (Nick); grandson Matthew Parrott (Renee); and great-grandchildren Max Knopp and Paisley Parrott. He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy Morgan, Shirley Douglas, and Faye Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Johnny Ruth Parrott, and his brother, Rudolph Parrott. Known affectionately as “Birdman,” Eddie was a man of deep faith who loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served faithfully as secretary and treasurer, and as a deacon at the Pentecostal Holiness Church. His service was a reflection of his strong spiritual commitment and leadership within his church community. He was devoted to his family and took great joy in telling stories—especially about hunting, fishing, and growing up in Hines. Whether sharing laughs on the porch or memories around a campfire, Eddie had a way of making everyone feel welcome and heard. A true outdoorsman, he was a long-time member of the Shired Island Hunting Club and found great peace in nature. He especially enjoyed fishing at 8 Mile Creek and along the Suwannee River, places where he made lasting memories with family and friends. His legacy of love, storytelling, strong values, and being a devoted husband, father, and servant of God lives on in the many lives he touched. Funeral services for Eddie will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Cross City Chapel. Interment will follow in Cross City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
