Aaron James Davis

Aaron James Davis, 73, of Old Town, Florida, passed away May 31, 2023. He was born June 1, 1949 in Old Town, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Raymond Davis and Maggie Mae Robinson and his wife of 48 years, Cathy Ann Gomillion. Aaron is a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and attended Salt Creek Baptist Church in Suwannee, Florida with his wife, Dianne. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. After his Air Force service, he went to work for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, working his way up through the ranks to Postmaster. He retired after 36 years of service. He was known as “The Fixer” and could solve difficult situations within any station he was assigned. He worked at various stations throughout the Panama City area, Graceville and Defuniak Springs. Aaron was also a master carpenter and found a lot of satisfaction in house remodeling. His other interests included fishing, hunting, swimming and high diving. He loved people and spent his life in service to others. Aaron is survived by his wife, Dianne; his son, Aaron (Jessica) Davis of Panama City, Florida; his daughters, Elizabeth (Brad) Kelley of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and Cynthia (Mike) Vass of Fountain, Florida; stepdaughters, DeAnna (Tommy) Haire of Hahira, Georgia, Brenda (Robert) Dean of Trenton, Florida, Melissa (Jason) Whitman of Selma, Alabama and LeAnn (Rick) Stapleton of Cedar Park, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren; and 12 step great grandchildren; his brothers, Billy (Catherine) Davis, Bobby (Sandy) Davis, Michael Davis and Eugene (Susan) Davis all of Old Town, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services for Aaron will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel in Cross City, Florida with Rev. Noah Raulerson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will continue on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3140 State Avenue in Panama City, Florida with Bishop Joe Gainer officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral service at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories at 4035 E 15th Street in Panama City, Florida.
