Marion Elexander Polk, Sr. 94 of Horseshoe Beach passed away March 5, 2018. Mr. Polk was born March 22, 1923 to the late Thomas and Minnie Polk and had spent most of his life in the Horseshoe Beach area. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during D-Day and the Battle of Normandy in World War II. He retired as a foreman of the Orange County Road Department. Mr. Polk attended the Jena Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a member of DAV. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he will always be remembered as a man who loved his dogs. Mr. Polk is survived by his sons Luther Polk and Marion Polk, Jr. (Cindy), his daughters Gloria Osteen (Keinth), Patricia Valentine (James), Adrian Alford, Wanda Osteen (Danny), Helen Polk, and Roxann Polk, 21 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great- grandchildren, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wives Lessie Mae Polk and Barbara Ann Polk. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Polk will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2018 at Butler Cemetery outside of Horseshoe Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
