Jerry Wayne Meeks, 71, of Chiefland, Florida passed away May 21, 2020. Mr. Meeks was born August 12, 1948 to the late John and Bessie Meeks in Ellzey, Florida. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and received a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War. Mr. Meeks had worked for several years as a plumber, was a member of the VFW Post 5625 in Chiefland, the American Legion Post 88 in Jacksonville, the Gulf Hammock Hunting Club, and was of the Protestant faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Meeks is survived by his wife Cindy W. Meeks, his sons Randy Etheridge and William “Bill” Meeks both of Chiefland, his sisters Shirly Comeaux, Carolyn Redmond, and Joyce Weeks all of Chiefland, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother Billy Meeks and his sister Helen Daniels. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Meeks will be held 3:00 PM Sunday May 24, 2020 at the Ellzey Cemetery in Ellzey, Florida, with Pastor Robin Jocelyn officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Ellzey United Methodist Church.
