Janis Angela Cataldo Barnett, 82, of High Springs Florida, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Janis was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 6, 1939, and was raised on her family farm in the High Springs area (South Columbia County) where she lived until her death. Janis attended Fort White High School where she was homecoming queen and graduated at the top of her class. She was a full-time homemaker and part-time ticket seller at the local racetrack where she could be heard above the crowd yelling for her son as he raced. She loved going to concerts, music, dancing, the races, and spoiling her grandchildren. Janis didn't know a stranger. She loved conversation and socializing. Her laughter and radiant personality was contagious and she lit up every room she walked into. She was a mother to many children that she did not birth; a confidant, and a loyal friend. Janis is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Dorothy Cataldo. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 52 years, Irving Eugene Barnett; A sister; Gloria Carmella Duren; Children: Donnie (Ouida) Barber, Roger (Sherry) Barber, Jana Key, Tim (Stephanie) Barnett, Joni Barber Milling, Jeana (Ken) Barnett Crenshaw; Grandchildren: Duane Barber, Kasey Smith,Kyle Hurst, Keri Ashley Gill, RJ Barber ,Rachelle Rooks, Marshall Bruce, Shelby Barnett Terry, Andy Barnett, Travis English, Tyler Barber, Taeden Barber, Megan Aylor, Clinton Crenshaw, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Tustenuggee United Methodist Church in Fort White Florida on Sunday January 9, 2022 at 2:00pm. Interment will be at the Tustenuggee cemetery. A time of fellowship will be held immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude's children's hospital, or Community Hospice Care.
