John Colin DeLaney Sr, 78, of Old Town, Florida died November 13, 2020 with his family by his side at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida. Mr. DeLaney was born December 15, 1941 at the DeLaney homestead in the 1st District of Dixie County, Florida to the late Mack and Myra DeLaney. Mr. DeLaney in his early years was a farmer with cattle and crops; later he worked in construction and excavation. He was an avid vegetable gardener that could grow anything - sharing his garden with friends and family. He loved watching sports - especially basketball. He preferred being outdoors, loved fishing and was a die-hard, avid hunter. The deer are breathing a sigh of relief. Mr. DeLaney is survived by his wife, Sandra DeLaney, Old Town, Fl ; son, John DeLaney, Dade City, Fl (Debi); Jeff DeLaney, Lake City, Fl (Kim) and Colleen DeLaney Creamer, Lake City, Fl (Greg); and 5 grandchildren - Gabrielle DeLaney Boger (Cody), Colin DeLaney, Starlett DeLaney Bullard (Clint), Logan Creamer and Lucas Creamer; and 5 great grandchildren; 1 step son Mike Orem (Camilla). A memorial service will be held for Mr. DeLaney 3:00 PM Friday, November 20, 2020 at Rock Sink Baptist Church in Old Town, Florida, with Pastor Al Paulson officiating.
