Anita "Kathy" Driggers

Anita Kathleen “Kathy” Driggers, 77, of Cross City, Florida, passed away on September 30, 2022. Kathy was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 10, 1944, to the late Nita Neville and George Neville. She lived in multiple states throughout the U. S. before moving to Cross City, after she married her beloved husband James Driggers who preceded her in death. Kathy worked in various jobs before deciding to obtain her degree in education. She attended Lake City Community College where she received her AA degree. She then transferred to Florida State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in English Education with a Minor in Spanish. While at FSU, Kathy was awarded the Lifetime Member Award of the Golden Key National Honor Society. She then worked as a high school English and Spanish teacher with Dixie District Schools, for 28 years, before retiring. She loved her students and teaching was her passion. While there, she sponsored many extracurricular activities such as Class Sponsor, Cheerleading Sponsor, Beta Club, Majorettes, Yearbook, Spanish Club, and was a member of the Dixie County Educational Association. She was also active with the Dixie County Women’s Club for many years and was the sponsor for Little Women’s Club of Dixie County. Kathy loved to read, travel, the Arts; but most of all, she loved to teach and spend time with her family. She is survived by her sons, Neville Driggers (Robin) and Jed Driggers; her daughter, Tracy Grady (Richard); a special nephew, Chris Estes (Holly); two sisters, Penny Meditz (Chuck), and Bonnie Elliott; her grandchildren, Andrew Snook (Britney), Stephen Driggers (Staci), Travis Keck, Kallee Grady (Deyton), Cami Grady, and her great grandchildren, Logan Driggers, Kacey Driggers, Katie Driggers, Connor Driggers, and Sophia Driggers along with a very special large extended family. She will be missed by so many. The family will be starting an educational scholarship in memory of her name. More information regarding this will be announced at a later date. Funeral services for Kathy will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Cross City Chapel, with Father Michael Pendergraft officiating. Interment will follow at the Cross City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM.
