Mick Bastow

The world lost a loving husband, wonderful father, proud papa, beloved brother, good friend, and a devout Catholic. Thomas M. “Mick” Bastow, 82, of Trenton, Florida passed away Sunday, November 19th, 2023, surrounded by his family. Mick was kind, gentle, quick-witted, and a faithful servant. He was born on September 17, 1941, in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Leroy and Dorothy Bastow. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland, Florida. He proudly served in the US Army as a Military Policeman, stationed in Germany. He carried on his father’s family business, Bastow Well Drilling and Pumps, while working at Georgia Pacific where he retired after 25 years. Mick enjoyed traveling, especially with his wife, Amy, who he cherished. He enjoyed the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, tending to their flowers, tinkering, or just taking in the day on the back porch. It brought him great joy to watch his grand and great- grandchildren play sports, perform in shows and many other events. He truly was a man of God with a calm, quiet spirit that will be missed by so many. Mick is survived by his wife Amy E. Bastow of Trenton, Florida; their children Marcia (Ron) St John, Carrie (Tom) Walter, Mark (Wendi) Bastow, David (Vanessa) Bastow, Aimee (Clifton) Underwood, Kevin (Regiane) Bastow. 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. The Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24th from 6-8 pm at Rick Gooding Funeral Home, 1301 N Young Blvd., Chiefland, Florida. Funeral Mass to be held Saturday, November 25th, at 9 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 4050 Alt US-27S, Chiefland, Florida, Graveside Service to follow at 3:30 pm, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Ave N, Clearwater, Florida.
