Junior Roberts

James “Junior” Roberts, also known as “Samples,” 85, of Cross City, went to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 17, 2024. Junior was born on April 29, 1939, in Hobson, Alabama. He was a resident of Dixie County and a member of Lydia Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of several singing groups. Junior moved to Cross City with his family in the mid to late 1950s and began working as a stumper with the Continental Turpentine Company which eventually led him to own his own business, Roberts Logging. He then met the love of his life, Paulette and they were married for 63 years. Junior was a great husband, daddy, and papa, and will always be remembered as a great Christian man who never met a stranger and was a friend to many people. He has left a legacy of upstanding moral character and wisdom that will never be forgotten by anyone who has ever had the privilege of knowing him. Junior is survived by his wife Frances “Paulette” Roberts of Cross City, son Terry (Christy) Roberts of Cross City, daughter Michele Faulk of High Springs, Florida, grandchildren Bryan (Kaci) Faulk of High Springs, Florida, Kirby (Savannah) Roberts of Cross City, Brandon Faulk of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Katie Roberts of Cross City, and three great grandchildren Kymber, Tanner, and Beckett. He is also survived by his brother Jimmy (Debby) Roberts of Hobson, Alabama, sisters Teresa (Robby) Smith of Irvington, Alabama, Twila (Bob) Mitchell of Mobile, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee “Molly” Roberts, his father, James Devation Roberts, his brother, Ralph Roberts, his brother Gerald Roberts, his stepmother Grace Roberts, and an infant sister, Glenda Lanell Roberts. Funeral services for Junior will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Lydia Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Anderson and Pastor Jarrett Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Cross City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
