James Keen

James Ellis Keen , 62, of Bronson, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024 after an extended illness. Born on January 22, 1962 in Ocala, Florida to N J Keen and Lou Eva Osteen Keen. James was a beloved brother, uncle, and brother in Christ. A graduate of Bronson High School, James went on to attend Lake City Community College where he earned a certificate in small engine repair. James later worked for Beauchamp Hardware in Chiefland and Bronson First Baptist Church, where he served as a custodian until he became disabled due to a brain tumor. James is survived by his sisters, Jeannie Norris (Cliff), and Janice Williams (Les). He is also survived by his nieces, Jennifer Bray (Ethan), Stephanie Partin (Doug), Noelle Weinar (Mike), and Katie Norris (Larry) and their children, Riley, Sidney, Lillie, Emery, Gavin, Wesley, and Riggins. James was an active member of Bronson First Baptist Church and was very devoted to service and commitment to the Lord. James read his bible every morning and night up until the time he could no longer see due to a stroke. James was well known for his unwavering politeness and willingness to help others. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and cousin Corky Springs. He was an avid basketball fan of the Bronson Eagles. James is preceded in death by his parents NJ and Lou Eva Keen, and grandmother, Alma J Osteen. Though James is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing he is pain free and united with his Heavenly Father. He will be missed by many whom he made a lasting impression for his humor and serving as an example for loving the Lord. The family expresses the utmost gratitude to the special angels at Altrusia House in Gainesville, Ayers Health and Rehab in Trenton, and Haven Hospice who helped provide compassionate and loving care during James’ journey with cancer, strokes and dementia. Services to celebrate James’ life will be held at Bronson First Baptist Church on Friday, October 4, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor John Coker. Internment will take place at Rosemary Hill Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of James Keen, to the Bronson First Baptist Church building fund.
