Ed Cason

Bart Edward “Ed” Cason, died peacefully December 25, 2023 at UF Health Shands Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in June 2, 1949 in Fort White, Florida to A.J. Cason and Alice Cason (Walker). He grew up in High Springs, Florida and graduated from Santa Fe High School in Alachua, Florida in 1967. He later enlisted and served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana where he met his loving wife Linda. He was later deployed to Vietnam where he fought honorably and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He proudly presented the Army winning many tournaments and awards playing billiards, a sport he dearly loved. Once discharged he returned to Lake Charles, Louisiana and then moved back to his hometown High Springs, Florida where he resided for the rest of his life. He worked at Driltech, Inc. as a supervisor building the gigantic drilling rigs for over 20 plus years until he retired. He so enjoyed and loved his Driltech family. He later took over the management of the family restaurant, Alice’s Parkside in High Springs. There is found another loyal family of customers and friends who so loved his larger than life personality and the stories he would tell. He always left a lasting impression on anyone he met. He will be so greatly missed, leaving a void that can never be filled. He was survived by his loving, loyal wife Linda Cason, his daughter Wendy Carter (Clayton Carter) of Chiefland, Florida, daughter Penny Gilliam (Jeff Gilliam) of High Springs, Florida. Grandchildren Kirstie Surface (Mario Lizarraga) of Douglas, Arizona, Laken Poole (Eli Poole) of Chiefland, Florida, Kloe’ Cason of High Springs, Florida, and Payton Carter (Chelsey O’Steen) of Lily Creek, Florida. Great Grandchildren Cali Lizarraga, Axel Lizarraga, Macy Lizarraga of Douglas, Arizona, Esme Carter and Ryder Carter (due March 2024) of Lily Creek, Florida, plus many, many additional family members. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Buddy Wells, Sam Cason, sisters Margaret Ann Roberts and Lola Brooks. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering Saturday January 20, 2024 at 1 to 4 pm at the High Springs Lions Club 26900 W U.S. Hwy 27, High Springs, FL 32643 with Otis Evans officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you may bring a covered dish or dessert as there will be a Potluck Dinner at the Celebration.
